Getting Started

To change the default application for opening a specific file type in macOS Finder, follow these steps:

  • Locate the file in Finder that you want to change the default app for.
  • Right-click (or Control-click) the file and select "Get Info" from the contextual menu.
  • In the "Get Info" window, find the "Open with" section and click the dropdown menu next to it.
  • Select the application you want to use as the default for that file type.
  • Click the "Change All" button to apply this setting to all files of the same type across your system.
